Wind Mitigation & 4-Point Inspections

Insurance Inspections

When you own or purchase an older home, rental property, or condo in Florida, you will likely need a 4 point inspection before purchasing a homeowners policy. Most insurance companies will require a 4 point inspection when a home is older than 40 years, or rental property is older than 30 years.

A wind mitigation inspection should be completed, regardless of age, for all single-family homes, townhouses and condos, with the exception of new construction, and are valid for five years from the date of the inspection.

Make better decisions, End-to-End.

For those times when you’re purchasing home insurance due to a home purchase, policy expiration, or company change, you’ll most likely need a wind mitigation inspection, 4-point inspection, and/or a roof certification. We offer all three.

We carefully evaluate all aspects of your roof and identify any areas that need repair or replacement, allowing you to prove your roof is in good condition.

Wind Mitigation

A wind mitigation inspection is usually required by an insurance company to determine the stability of the structure of a home or commercial building in the case of a wind event. Certified inspectors evaluate a building’s potential to withstand high winds based on the following criteria:

4-Point Inspections

Today, many insurance companies are wary of insuring older homes, constantly assessing their level of risk. Older homes simply have a higher probability of becoming an insurance liability to the underwriter. It’s not unusual for homeowners with older homes to experience a failure of a major system and then file for reimbursement under their policy.
